Informality and practicality are the essence of this quintessential home plan style. Clearly one of the most popular architectural styles, the Country home evokes warm, cozy feelings. Wood and other natural materials are used extensively in the exterior of a country style home. Gable roofs are the norm. Board and batten siding, exposed rafters and beams all are indicative of this style. This style is a porch lover’s dream and wrap around porches are a prominent feature in the design style. Inside, the aesthetic is more rustic and cleaner. Fireplaces are usually featured and the style has morphed over the years to a more open floor plan with less dedicated rooms. A single dining area and a large Kitchen are more common than in decades past. The addition of mud rooms provides practical and useful places for dropping boots and sports gear.
